I love Mantar. Theirs is one of the most impressive live performances I have ever seen: primitive, sweaty and more energetic than most coal power stations. Having such a beloved artist release a new album is always a bit scary, especially after three very strong offerings in a row. Still, Mantar remain untouchable and return with their most accessible (read: 'still kicking you in the balls until your teeth pop out') release so far. Odysseus might be their best song yet. The kings are back. David Fischer
A grand display that's equally gorgeous and grotesque! Churning, writhing rhythms lay the groundwork for caustic, venomous vocals and discordant melodies that remind me of a death metal version of Blut Aus Nord. One of 2023's best metal albums! Turd Ferguson
